Meet the Blue Angels: History, Tradition, & Exciting Home Shows

Who Are the Blue Angels?

The Blue Angels, officially the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, have dazzled crowds since 1946. Formed to showcase naval aviation prowess and boost public morale, they’re now the second‑oldest aerobatic team globally. With six Navy and one Marine Corps pilot flying custom-painted F/A‑18E/F Super Hornets and supported by the iconic C‑130J “Fat Albert,” they demonstrate precision flying, grit, and teamwork.

From the first Diamond formation in 1947, their legacy has spanned aircraft—from propeller-driven Hellcats to today’s supersonic jets. The team continues to inspire through thrilling maneuvers and public engagement at schools, hospitals, and air shows nationwide. They perform around 60 shows each year for millions of fans.
